Half of Killarney NP has been burned. In response to this we have committed to looking for a tree planting site in the south Kerry area and aim to help plant at least 10,000 trees but perhaps a lot more!

We NEED YOUR HELP to restore the native forest which once covered Kerry and the whole of Ireland, Killarney was one of the last shining examples.

As someone who spent much of my life in Killarney national park studying to be a wildlife biologist seeing the damage these fires have done to the place I loved is particularly devastating. It is now more important than ever we help restore Ireland’s native forests. With your help we plan to plant over 1 MILLION TREES across Ireland!

These seems at Killarney and across the mountains of Ireland ARE NOT NORMAL. Ireland shouldn’t experience fires like this, they vary rarely occur naturally (i.e lightning). We must put pressure on our local respresentatives and government to say enough is enough. Burning our uplands is destroying habitats and their wildlife. Furthermore it prevents the natural regeneration of native forests which aren’t aloud to establish.

📸🍀┊ Visit a Pub or Two or Three, is a MUST, pubs are part of the fabric of Irish society, places to meet, drink and listen live music🍻. Ofc, the pouring of Guinness is a ritual, and I soon rediscovered my liking for Irish whiskey, I tried the best #Irishcoffee ever, and my new fave: Cider 🍎✨

Killarney National Park contains many features of national and international importance such as the native oakwoods and yew woods together with an abundance of evergreen trees and shrubs and a profusion of bryophytes and lichens which thrive in the mild Killarney climate. The native red deer are unique in Ireland with a presence in the country since the last Ice Age.
Killarney National Park was designated as a Biosphere Reserve in 1981 by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO), part of a world network of natural areas which have conservation, research, education and training as major objectives.

Killarney National Park contains many features of national and international importance such as the native oakwoods and yew woods together with an abundance of evergreen trees and shrubs and a profusion of bryophytes and lichens which thrive in the mild Killarney climate. The native red deer are unique in Ireland with a presence in the country since the last Ice Age.
Killarney National Park was designated as a Biosphere Reserve in 1981 by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO), part of a world network of natural areas which have conservation, research, education and training as major objectives.
